  • What types of children do you work with?
I treat communication and feeding needs in young children. I have experience treating children with: Expressive language delays Receptive language delays Social communication difficulties Phonological delays Speech-sound delays and disorders Feeding disorders Dysphagia
  • How much speech therapy will my child need?
I wish I had an easy answer for this, but it really depends on your child! Every child has different roadblocks and ultimately develops and learns at a different pace. I'll give your child the tools to improve communication and/or feeding skills. We'll celebrate each step of progress your little one makes, and adjust strategies as needed so they can keep learning and growing!
  • What forms of payment do you accept?
When you set up your account through the client portal, I'll have you put a card on file. Most people choose to have me charge that card each session, but I also accept cash or check. The card can be credit, debit, HSA, or FSA. Payment is due at the time of service.
  • Do you work with children with Autism?
Yes! I have experience working with young children with a with a variety of diagnoses. Some of these include prematurity, Autism, Down Syndrome, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Spina Bifida, and more. I do not work with children require high-tech AAC devices; however I'm happy to refer you to other practices that do this if needed!
  • Can siblings be present for therapy sessions?
Of course! If siblings are home, then they are likely a part of your child's daily routines, and a welcome part of your child's therapy session.
  • Do you treat clients in South Carolina?
I only take North Carolina clients. I primarily work with families in and around Belmont. Keeping clients in a small geographical area helps me keep my practice small and ensures I give my best to each of the families I work with!
  • My child's grandparents usually watch her during the day. Could you include them in sessions?
Absolutely! During intake, I'll have you complete paperwork specifying the people I am allowed to discuss your child's progress with, and as long as they are on the list we can make it happen.
  • What do you mean by routine-based?
Just about anything your child does day-to-day can be used to build communication! During sessions, we'll walk through your family's routines, implementing speech and language strategies to promote new skills and carryover. Some examples of a child's daily routines are brushing teeth, washing hands, eating snacks, getting dressed, and playing with toys.
  • Do you take insurance?
I currently only accept Aetna, BCBS, NC Medicaid, and private-pay clients. I do accept HSA & FSA payments. For private-pay clients I provide "superbills" upon request that you can submit to your insurance company for processing. If your insurance accepts the charge, this would count towards your Out-of-Network benefits.
